Nasdaq 100 Records Worst Week In 18 Months As Investors Steer Clear Of Chipmakers — AAPL, MSTR, UBER, SOXX In Focus

The Nasdaq 100 is experiencing its worst week in 18 months, reflecting a significant shift in investor sentiment as they steer clear of chipmakers. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index has now declined for eight consecutive days, marking its longest losing streak since 2008. This trend indicates growing concerns about the semiconductor supply chain and the potential impact on AI chip demand, which has been a critical driver for tech stocks. Major players like Apple, MicroStrategy, and Uber are also feeling the pressure, as the broader tech sector grapples with heightened volatility. Investors should be particularly attentive to the implications of this downturn on growth stocks, especially given their sensitivity to Fed rate changes. The ongoing challenges in the semiconductor space could hinder the anticipated data-center buildout, which is essential for supporting cloud hyperscaler spending. Additionally, the specter of antitrust and AI regulation looms large, potentially stifling innovation and investment in the sector. As we navigate this turbulent environment, the risks associated with China-Taiwan relations further complicate the outlook for tech markets. Overall, the current dynamics suggest a cautious approach as we assess the long-term viability of growth in the tech sector amidst these structural challenges.

Stock Market Today, Oct. 16: Tech Stocks Plunge as AI Software Valuations Reverse

Today, tech stocks are experiencing a significant downturn, with AI-focused software losing around $260 billion in value. This sharp decline is largely attributed to concerns raised by Goldman Sachs regarding debt financing in the sector, which has triggered a momentum reversal that investors are keenly reacting to. The implications of this shift are profound, as it highlights the fragility of AI software valuations amidst tightening financial conditions. As growth stocks face increased scrutiny, particularly those reliant on high levels of debt, we may see a recalibration of investor expectations in the tech space. The broader tech sector is likely to feel the ripple effects, especially as market sentiment shifts towards more cautious investment strategies. Additionally, this downturn could impact the ongoing demand for AI chips and the semiconductor supply chains that support them, as companies reassess their capital expenditures. With hyperscalers potentially scaling back their cloud spending in response to these valuation pressures, the entire ecosystem could face headwinds. Furthermore, the sensitivity of growth stocks to Fed rate changes remains a critical factor, as rising rates could exacerbate the challenges faced by heavily leveraged firms. Investors should remain vigilant about the evolving landscape, particularly as regulatory scrutiny around AI and antitrust issues continues to grow. Overall, today's market movement underscores the need for a more disciplined approach to investing in the tech sector, as the dynamics of growth and valuation come under increasing pressure.

Nowhere to hide: Tech selloff hits software and chip stocks alike

The tech sector is experiencing a significant selloff, with both software and semiconductor stocks facing pressure as fears surrounding AI and interest rates weigh heavily on investor sentiment. This simultaneous decline is notable, as these sectors have not typically moved in tandem throughout the year. The heightened anxiety regarding AI developments and their implications for growth, coupled with concerns over rising interest rates, is creating a challenging environment for tech investors. As growth stocks are particularly sensitive to rate changes, the current market dynamics are likely to exacerbate volatility in this space. The selloff reflects broader apprehensions about the sustainability of tech valuations amid tightening monetary policy. Additionally, the semiconductor sector, which has been buoyed by strong demand for AI chips, is now grappling with the potential for reduced spending from cloud hyperscalers and other key customers. This could lead to a recalibration of expectations for revenue growth in the coming quarters. Investors should remain vigilant as the interplay between regulatory pressures, particularly around AI, and geopolitical risks related to China and Taiwan could further complicate the outlook for tech stocks. Overall, the current market environment underscores the need for a cautious approach as we navigate these turbulent waters.

Stock Market Today, Oct. 16: Apple Edges Higher on iPhone Duo Preorder Surge

Apple's recent surge in preorders for the iPhone Duo, which sold out rapidly and has pushed delivery estimates into January, signals strong consumer demand that could bolster the company's revenue in the upcoming quarters. This positive momentum for Apple may provide a counterbalance to the broader tech market, which is currently down around 6%. The robust preorder activity suggests that despite macroeconomic headwinds, consumers remain willing to invest in premium technology products, which could have a ripple effect on supply chains and semiconductor demand. As Apple continues to innovate and capture market share, it reinforces the importance of brand loyalty in the tech sector. Additionally, this demand could stimulate further investment in data center buildouts and AI chip production, as companies look to support the growing ecosystem around mobile technology. Investors should also consider how this trend might influence the performance of other tech giants, particularly those involved in hardware and software that complement Apple's offerings. The current market environment, characterized by heightened sensitivity to Fed rate changes, may lead to increased volatility, but strong product launches like the iPhone Duo could provide a much-needed stabilizing force. Overall, while the tech sector faces challenges, Apple's preorder success highlights the potential for growth amidst broader market fluctuations.

Don’t buy this dip: Several signs suggest there’s more pain ahead for tech stocks

Investors should be cautious about buying the dip in technology stocks, as the Nasdaq Composite's technical outlook indicates potential further declines ahead. The current market environment is characterized by heightened volatility, particularly in growth-oriented sectors, which are sensitive to interest rate changes. With the Fed's ongoing rate adjustments, growth stocks are facing increased pressure, making them less attractive in the current climate. Additionally, concerns surrounding semiconductor supply chains and the geopolitical risks associated with China and Taiwan are weighing heavily on investor sentiment. The anticipated slowdown in cloud hyperscaler spending could further exacerbate the challenges faced by tech companies reliant on robust data center buildouts. Furthermore, the looming specter of antitrust and AI regulation adds another layer of uncertainty, potentially stifling innovation and growth in the sector. As we navigate this turbulent landscape, it is essential for investors to remain vigilant and consider the structural catalysts that could impact tech stocks in the near term. Overall, the combination of these factors suggests that the current dip may not be the right entry point for those looking to invest in technology. Caution is warranted as we assess the broader implications for the tech sector moving forward.

Chip Stocks Continue Downward Streak, 'Pricing In A Crash'

Chip stocks are experiencing their longest losing streak in eight years, reflecting a significant downturn in investor sentiment. This persistent decline suggests that the market is pricing in a potential crash, which raises concerns about the overall health of the semiconductor sector. As demand for AI chips and cloud infrastructure remains critical, the current market reaction indicates a disconnect between long-term growth prospects and short-term fears. Investors should note that this downturn could be influenced by broader economic factors, including Fed rate sensitivity, which often weighs heavily on growth stocks. Additionally, ongoing supply chain challenges and geopolitical tensions, particularly regarding China and Taiwan, are likely exacerbating the uncertainty in the semiconductor space. The implications for tech stocks are profound, as a sustained downturn in chip stocks could dampen the enthusiasm for tech investments more broadly. Furthermore, as hyperscalers continue to ramp up their data center buildouts, any disruption in chip supply could hinder their growth trajectories. This environment calls for a cautious approach, as the market recalibrates expectations amidst these structural challenges. Overall, while the long-term outlook for AI and cloud technologies remains robust, the current market dynamics necessitate careful navigation for investors in the tech sector.

Hyperscale Data Announces Plan for its askROI Subsidiary to Go Public in the Second or Third Quarter of 2027

(NYSE/NASDAQ:GPUS-PD) Hyperscale Data, Inc. announced that its subsidiary, askROI, Inc., is preparing to become a separate, publicly traded company through a reverse takeover (RTO), an initial public offering (IPO), or a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) transaction. The Company and askROI are targeting completion of the transaction by the second or third quarter of 2027, depending on the transaction type and subject to financial, regulatory, and market conditions. If the transaction is an RTO, the completion of a resale registration statement registering the shares of the current public company, which has not been identified, that Hyperscale Data would receive in the RTO in consideration for the sale of askROI is expected in the first half of 2027. askROI offers an all-in-one AI productivity, research, automation, and content creation platform, providing access to more than 240 productivity tools, custom AI applications, enterprise knowledge management, and generative AI technologies via web and mobile applications. The platform serves individuals, entrepreneurs, professionals, and businesses. In preparation for the transaction, Milton "Todd" Ault III will step down as Chief Executive Officer of askROI, and Joseph Spaziano is expected to be appointed Chief Executive Officer, with Ryan Doucette as President. Mr. Spaziano, currently Chief Technology Officer of Hyperscale Data and President and Chief Operating Officer of askROI, will step down from his role at Hyperscale Data to focus solely on askROI. Mr. Doucette currently serves as Head of Product at askROI. The Company anticipates, but cannot state with certainty, that Messrs. Spaziano and Doucette would continue in these positions after the transaction. The leadership transition is intended to provide askROI with a dedicated management team for independent operations. Hyperscale Data believes that askROI's value is not currently recognized by public markets and that a separation could enhance the market capitalization of Hyperscale Data by virtue of its ownership of a post-transaction public entity. The Company expects to provide additional information regarding the transaction structure, corporate organization, and listing timetable at a later date, and notes there can be no assurance that the proposed public listing will occur within the anticipated timeframe or at all. Hyperscale Data's broader strategy includes evaluating opportunities to establish independent market valuations for its portfolio businesses. The Company currently expects the divestiture of its wholly owned subsidiary, Ault Capital Group, Inc. (ACG), to occur in 2027, through the voluntary exchange of Series F Preferred Stock for shares of Class A and Class B Common Stock of ACG. On December 23, 2024, the Company issued 1,000,000 shares of Series F Exchangeable Preferred Stock to all common stockholders and holders of Series C Preferred Stock on an as-converted basis. Only holders of Series F Preferred Stock who agree to surrender such shares in the exchange offer will be entitled to receive ACG shares upon the divestiture. Until the divestiture, Hyperscale Data will continue to provide mission-critical products and services through ACG and its subsidiaries, including AI software, equipment rental, defense/aerospace, industrial, automotive, hotel operations, and private credit and structured finance through Ault Lending, LLC.

U.S. Navy receives C-130J-30 Super Hercules to become future TACAMO platform, E-130J Phoenix II

(NYSE:LMT) Lockheed Martin delivered a C-130J-30 Super Hercules aircraft to the U.S. Navy at the company's Marietta, Georgia, facility on October 15. The delivered Super Hercules is intended to become the future platform for the Take Charge and Move Out (TACAMO) mission, which is the U.S. Navy’s airborne nuclear command and control support mission. The C-130J-30 Super Hercules will be modified into the E-130J Phoenix II, representing the Navy's next-generation TACAMO mission platform. This delivery marks a significant milestone for the U.S. Navy, Lockheed Martin, and the nation's strategic communications network, according to Trish Pagan, vice president of Lockheed Martin's Air Mobility & Maritime Missions. The Super Hercules provides a domestically produced, reliable, long-endurance, four-engine platform with advanced avionics, increased power, greater range, fuel efficiency, and payload capacity. The delivery re-establishes the link between the TACAMO mission and the Hercules family, as the EC-130Q variant previously served as the Navy's TACAMO platform from 1963 until 1993. The new Super Hercules builds on this legacy by adding advanced avionics, communications, and survivability enhancements. U.S. Navy Capt. Roger Davis, Airborne Strategic Command, Control and Communications program manager (PMA-271), stated that accepting the first C-130J-30 marks an exciting new chapter and provides the structural and performance backbone required for the mission as the Navy transitions into mission systems integration to field the E-130J Phoenix II. The aircraft will be transferred to Northrop Grumman, the mission systems integrator, where the E-130J TACAMO industry team will complete the conversion for entry into service as the E-130J Phoenix II. The C-130J Super Hercules is the latest generation of the C-130 Hercules, built with advanced avionics, increased range and speed, and enhanced survivability. The C-130J is certified across 20 different mission sets, including airdrop, search and rescue, firefighting, medevac, ISR, and special operations. Symphony by Wix Integrates Link’s Wallet for Agents, Built by Stripe, Enabling AI Agents to Make Payments on Behalf of Small Businesses

(NASDAQ:WIX) Wix.com Ltd. announced that Symphony by Wix, its standalone multi-agent system for small and medium-sized businesses and solopreneurs, now integrates with Link, Stripe’s digital wallet. This integration enables Symphony's AI agents to make payments on behalf of business owners, moving beyond simply flagging tasks to actually executing them. Symphony's agents already operate as a coordinated team, executing tasks and surfacing growth opportunities for businesses. With Link connected, these agents can now complete payment tasks, ensuring that actions such as reordering stock, paying invoices, and covering entry fees are handled automatically, with each purchase requiring owner approval. Every payment is processed within a system controlled by the business owner, with buyers reviewing and approving each spend request. Stripe uses a secure payment token or one-time virtual card for each transaction, and Symphony's agents never see the owner's underlying payment details. Each card is capped at the approved amount, and approval can be given within a 10-minute window from any device, including WhatsApp or SMS. Example scenarios include Symphony identifying and paying registration fees for new businesses, reordering stock for a candle shop when inventory drops below five units, paying supplier invoices promptly, and securing entry fees for events before deadlines. Symphony can also respond to customer feedback, such as sending a gift card after a negative review. Ronny Elkayam, COO of Wix, stated that connecting Link fulfills Symphony's promise to act on behalf of business owners, not just advise them, and distinguishes Symphony as a true teammate. Jay Shah, business lead for Link at Stripe, commented that the integration allows Symphony to handle more routine tasks, freeing up business owners' time. The Link integration follows Symphony's August launch and extends the platform's operational capabilities for SMBs. The rollout is currently available to Symphony users with a US-based Link account, with payments made in US dollars.

(AQSE:DXSP) DXS International plc welcomes the announcement from NHS England regarding a new £838.7m open framework for GP IT solutions. The new framework is intended to replace GP IT Futures, which expired in March 2023 and whose subsequent procurement constraints have created challenges for suppliers seeking to access the GP practice market. The proposed framework is designed to simplify access to the NHS market, support innovation, and provide a route for a broader range of clinical and operational software solutions. Wisr AI Expands RiskAssure with Paid Active Testing Offering

(CSE: WISR) Wisr AI Systems Inc. announced the launch of Active Testing, a paid add-on to its RiskAssure security assurance platform. Active Testing is a Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) tool built on Wisr AI's agentic AI platform, providing authorized, automated testing of customers' public-facing web applications. The service documents confirmed vulnerabilities and enables businesses to share testing status through their RiskAssure trust centre. Active Testing simulates attacks on running web applications from the outside to identify vulnerabilities without requiring access to source code, revealing weaknesses that code reviews and security questionnaires may miss. The offering expands RiskAssure's commercial capabilities and is designed to make advanced cybersecurity accessible to underserved small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The company automates assessment, evidence validation, and reporting to lower delivery costs and reach businesses that have historically lacked the budget or resources for these services. According to a 2025 CrowdStrike survey of U.S. small businesses, two-thirds said cost prevented them from upgrading security tools. The company highlights that attackers can exploit suppliers and service providers as pathways into enterprise customers, making SMB security a supply chain priority. Rob Goehring, CEO of Wisr AI, stated that the company's mission is to lower delivery costs and bring practical tools to underserved businesses, helping SMBs identify vulnerabilities and demonstrate their security efforts. Customers must verify their domain and approve the testing scope before receiving a detailed report with severity ratings and supporting evidence. The service includes one retest of a remediated finding. A trust centre badge displays the testing scope and date while keeping sensitive technical details private. Active Testing integrates technical assessments into the RiskAssure workspace alongside security documents, questionnaires, and customer assurance. The service assesses only the approved public-facing scope and does not replace manual penetration testing of authenticated systems or business-logic flaws. The badge records testing status but does not guarantee security. Active Testing requires a RiskAssure account and is purchased separately. Bespoke Metrics and Procore are building on that connection with agentic AI prequalification, starting with a COMPASS Risk Agent expected later this year. This new agent will enable project teams to see where every subcontractor stands without leaving Procore. Subcontractors control which general contractors can see their COMPASS profile, and their financial statements stay in COMPASS; only the Q Score and prequalification outcomes reach Procore. Michael Ho, Founder and CEO of Bespoke Metrics, stated that making COMPASS the preferred prequalification solution inside Procore puts an independent risk rating at the center of contractor selection. COMPASS by Bespoke Metrics is the largest global construction prequalification network, connecting 400+ general contractors and 150,000+ subcontractors across 33 countries and representing more than $1 trillion in annual construction volume. COMPASS applies a standardized approach to data collection, verification, and subcontractor assessment to manage risk across the construction supply chain. Subcontractors maintain one secure profile, control which General Contractors can access it, and generate their COMPASS Q Score reflecting their operational expertise, financial capacity, and health and safety track record.

Winners Inc. Announces Letter of Intent to Acquire “VaulterX” in Cash and Stock Transaction

(OTC:WNRS) Winners Inc. announced it has executed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to acquire 100% of the assets and intellectual property of VaulterX, a next-generation live commerce platform focused on rip, redeem, sell or ship functionality for Pokemon and grail sports trading cards. Under the LOI, Winners Inc. will acquire all of the VaulterX platform, assets, and IP in a cash and stock transaction. The transaction is subject to a 60-day due diligence period, execution of a definitive purchase agreement, approval by the Boards of Directors of both companies, and other customary closing conditions. VaulterX was developed by Fantribe Inc. and Metadream studios as a live marketplace where collectors can rip sealed packs live, have their hits instantly authenticated and vaulted, and then choose to instantly resell on the marketplace or ship to their door. The platform is designed to provide instant liquidity and vaulted, authenticated inventory for Pokemon and sports card collectors. VaulterX.com allows collectors to rip sealed packs live on stream from vaulted, authenticated inventory, instantly vault and track their portfolio with real-time market pricing, and resell or ship cards with one tap. B. Michael Friedman, CEO of Winners Inc., stated that VaulterX addresses the $13 billion trading card market’s biggest friction point: the delay between opening packs and achieving liquidity. He noted that Whatnot validated the live-commerce model, and VaulterX advances it with vaulted inventory that pairs each digital card one-to-one with its physical counterpart, allowing collectors to open packs live, redeem cards instantly, and sell or ship them with one tap. Friedman also highlighted that VaulterX stands out as an advanced live marketplace and card platform, with more than 1 million cards and AI agents that curate custom packs based on each user’s preferences. If completed, the acquisition would accelerate Winners Inc.'s strategy to become a leader in live collectibles commerce. The company does not intend to disclose further details regarding the LOI or the proposed transaction unless and until a definitive agreement is executed or unless disclosure is required by law. There can be no assurance that a definitive agreement will be entered into or that the proposed transaction will be consummated. Winners Inc. has launched the first prediction markets aggregator platform with Kalshi and Polymarket under its brand Mevu.com (me vs u). Winners Inc. is currently conducting a Regulation A+ Tier 2 offering of its common stock for up to $5,000,000 to new shareholders.
